Thomas E. Serafin Sr.

Thomas E. Serafin, Sr., 79 of New Britain, passed way Monday (November 1, 2021) at the Hospital of Central CT. A New Britain native, Tom was a former Berlin resident returning to New Britain in 2004. He was a graduate of New Britain High School, attended E.C. Goodwin Technical School, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Tom was a Truck Driver in the Paving Industry and was a former member of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department. Tom was avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Surviving is his former wife Catherine (Uterstaedt) Serafin of New Britain, his son, Thomas Serafin, Jr and his wife Kim of New Britain; three daughters, Kimberly Serafin and her fiancé Victor Flores, also of New Britain; Melissa Halat of Plainville; and Tricia Irizarry of New Britain; sisters-in-law Donna Uterstaedt of New Britain and Linda Serafin of Alabama, 6 grandchildren; a great grandson; a niece, four nephews, as well as three step grandchildren who used to call him “Grandpa Tom”. He was predeceased by a brother, Martin “Bobo” Serafin and an infant grandson, Robert Serafin. As well as two sons-in-law, Jason Halat and Wilfredo Irizarry. Funeral services are Monday 1 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
