Julia Jakubczyk Centurelli

Julia Jakubczyk Centurelli, 92, of Plainville, passed away on November 29, 2012. She was the widow of the late Henry "Chick" Centurelli who passed away in 1964. She was the daughter of the late Jan and Maria Wdovik Jakubczyk. Julia was born in New Britain in 1920, graduated from New Britain High in 1937, and married in New Britain in 1941. She lived in New Britain until 1955 when she moved to Kensington where she worked for New Britain National Bank for over 20 years. Upon the death of Henry, she took over his office as Treasurer of the Berlin Little League and maintained that position for 14 years. She was also the Treasurer of the Berlin Babe Ruth League for 7 years. The Centurelli Field in Berlin is named for her husband. She leaves 6 children, Robert Centurelli and his wife Judy of Bristol, Henry Centurelli and his wife Joanne of Winsted, John Centurelli of Berlin, Cheryl Rouelle of Higganum, Maggie Centurelli of Plainville and Julia Underwood and her husband David of Plainville. She resided with Julia and David in Plainville since 1991. She also leaves her sister Elizabeth D'Angelo of Newington, and a brother Stanley Jakubczyk and his wife Madeline of Phoenix, AZ. She was predeceased by 6 sisters, 4 brothers, a son-in-law David Rouelle and daughter-in-law Agnes Piekut Centurelli. She leaves 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Laura and Mark Centurelli, Stephen, Kristin and David Underwood, Anne Marie Herrington, Alicia Rouelle, Christine Spataro, Maria Summa, Lisa Turgeon, and Lisa Landry; 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She also leaves two sisters-in-law Anne Fanguillo and her husband Paul of Plainville, and Mary Centurelli of Newington; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10 AM directly at St. Paul's Church, Alling Street, Kensington. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting the family with arrangements.
