Ada Irma Baroni

Ada Irma Baroni, 92, of New Britain, Connecticut, died peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022, after a courageous fight before succumbing to injuries from a motor vehicle accident. Born on December 19, 1929, in New Britain, Connecticut, she was the eldest daughter of the late James “Jack” and Josephine (Manica) Baroni. Ada is survived by her loving siblings: Bruno Baroni and wife Josephine of New Britain, CT; Gino Baroni and wife Holly of New Britain, CT; and sister-in-law Joyce Baroni of Farmington, CT; Besides her parents, Ada was predeceased by her brother Albert Baroni Sr. of New Britain, CT, sister Mary Badon and brother-in-law Anthony Badon of Plainville, CT. Although she never had children of her own, she leaves ten nieces and nephews who were near and dear to her heart: Linda and Robert Rowland of Kensington, CT; Laurie and James Hehn of New Britain, CT; Donna and Roger Grover of Rocky Hill, CT; David and Amy Baroni of Berlin, CT; Lisa Baroni and James McGuire of New York, NY; Albert and Jeanette Baroni of Berlin, CT; Gina and Peter Legnani of Rowayton, CT; James Baroni of New Britain, CT; Diana and Timothy Welch of Darien, CT; and Mark and Daniela Baroni of Westbrook, CT. She also leaves 19 wonderful great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition, she leaves extended family in the Trento region of northern Italy. Ada was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1947. She then began her incredible, 40-year career at Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET). She started as a telephone operator and later moved into an Executive Assistant position, where her meticulous organizational skills shined. A resident of New Britain her entire life, she lived in the family homestead built in 1928, where countless memories were made. She always brought the family together, from smaller, weekly Sunday afternoon gatherings under her beloved grapevines to large holiday celebrations. Family meant the world to her. Ada’s baking skills were remarkable and her spectacular cakes were a hit at every party. And, it wouldn’t be Christmas Eve if each family member didn’t leave with dozens of her famous holiday cookies beautifully wrapped for enjoyment. Ada was a member of St. Ann’s Church and a lifelong fan of UConn Women’s Basketball. She was an avid theater-goer and opera enthusiast, as she enjoyed multiple trips to New York City for shows. A voracious reader, she stayed on top of all world events and local news, reading three newspapers daily (the weekend edition of The New York Times was a favorite) and a book weekly. Ada had a great fondness for the beach. She treasured the summers she spent vacationing with family on the Connecticut shoreline. Ada lived life to the fullest and always enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio with dinner every night, complete with a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Her family appreciates the kindness shown by the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at Hartford Hospital ICU. Funeral Services are Friday 4 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum.
