Bernice Jones Fazzina

Bernice Bunny Jones Fazzina, 81, of South Windsor CT, formerly a long time resident of New Britain, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born February 5, 1926 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Harold W. And Malvina Marshall Jones. Bernice attended schools in Maine and Massachusetts, and at the age of 72 graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from CCSU. She married Frank Fazzina on September 4, 1943 in New Britain, CT. Bunny worked in accounting at the State of CT, Department of Education for many years and was an active member and officer in the CSEA union. She was also a member of the New Britain Museum and St. Marks church. She loved to travel and some of her favorite trips included those to Italy, England and cruises to the Carribean. She loved the fine arts, and frequently attended opera, ballet, and other musical shows, and took numerous trips to museums in the U.S. and abroad. She was an avid golf enthusiast and loved her early morning golf games at Stanley Golf course with her best golf buddy Betty Grant. Bunny is survived by her beloved daughter Deborah and partner Roberta Carlson; her brothers Junior and wife Tilly Jones of Maine, and Bob and Anita Jones of California; Sister Beverly and husband Wayne Small of Maine, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Fazzina, of New Britain, CT., and brother Roland Jones, of Maine. Bunny also leaves behind her loving forever friend Dotty Pelto, and long-time friends Norma Giguere and Alma Lou McCauley. She also leaves behind her beloved canine companion Chrissie and her cat Duffy. Bunny was loved by many and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Friday 10 AM at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Thursday 4 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. In Bunny's memory, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 or to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, Utah, 84741.
