David N. Hedenberg

David Hedenberg, 68, of Southington, beloved husband of Judith Rasmussen Hedenberg, passed away Wednesday February 5, 2014 at the Masonic Hospice Unit in Wallingford. Born in New Britain, son of the late Norman and Gladys Brayne Hedenberg, Dave was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1963, received his certificate from Porter's School of Design and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War Era. He was employed as an Electrical Estimator and Project Manager for McPhee Electric Ltd. in Farmington for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He has been a Southington resident for the past 6 years. Family was most important to him, especially his six beloved grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with them and celebrate in their interests and activities. He enjoyed time at the beach, birds, fishing, cooking, traveling, and just being with friends and family. Many good times were shared with Jennifer, Frank, Todd and Beth. His work always brought him tremendous satisfaction, especially projects at casinos. It's no surprise, as one of his favorite past times was to go to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun to "play cards". Besides his wife Judy, he is survived by two daughters, Janet Scalise and her husband Jonathan of Southington; and Laura Jarvis and her husband Kenneth of Milford; a brother, Donald Hedenberg of Barkhamsted; a sister Noreene Carlson and her husband Howard of Ulster, PA; six grandchildren, Isabella, Lily, Sofia and Olivia Scalise; and Kaitlin and Alexander Jarvis; a sister-in-law, Joyce Fisher; a brother-in-law, Christopher Fisher; several nieces and nephews. Dave's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the care provided by the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Smilow Cancer Hospital and Masonicare Hospice Unit. A funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday February 8, 2014 11 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9 to 11 AM at Carlson Funeral Home. In keeping with his giving spirit, David has generously donated his body to the Quinnipiac University School of Medicine.
