Judith Ann DeAngelis

Judith Ann DeAngelis, widow of Salvatore DeAngelis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on May 13, 2025 with her son, Lee and sister, Rebecca by her side. Judith was 91 years old and a proud, lifelong resident of New Britain, CT. Born on July 20, 1933, Judy lived a life full of warmth, creativity, and so much love for her family. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by her presence, her stories, and her example. Judy will be greatly missed by her son, Lee Maietta; sisters Marilyn Passamano and Rebecca Bouchard; grandchildren Kaleigh Maietta and husband Willis Bruckermann, Jackie Stillwagon and husband Luke Stillwagon, Marta Maietta and husband Jackie Lew, Claudine Coppola and husband Vincent Coppola, Mark DeAngelis and Samantha DeAngelis; stepsons Mark DeAngelis and wife Madeline DeAngelis and Philip DeAngelis. Judith was predeceased by her parents Alice Anderson Urbanski and Zigmund Urbanski, husband, Salvatore DeAngelis and brothers Arthur Urban and Leroy Urbanski. Judy, known to her family as Formor, told stories worth remembering and always shared memories of her childhood. Formor loved language and logic, she found joy in crossword puzzles, word searches, reading novel after novel, any and all biographies, and could stay up all night working on a jigsaw puzzle. She loved her granddaughters deeply. Growing up every Tuesday was Formor Day. We practiced counting and colors using her tins full of loose buttons. Formor was convinced she could bribe us to do anything for a nickel— practice piano, sing a song, look something up in the encyclopedia, etc. Small gestures that reflected her quiet wisdom and deep commitment to nurturing our talents and confidence. We will forever treasure these moments with her and feel grateful that we had so many. Formor was crafty. She knitted and crocheted, quilted, cross-stitched, sewed, and—most importantly—enjoyed the time spent passing on these skills to, you guessed it, her granddaughters. We carry her creativity forward in our own hands and continue to pass on her exceptionally precise (fussy) fine motor skills. Formor was always available for a chat. Phone calls with her could stretch for hours, she had so much interest in our lives, equal enthusiasm for our major life moments or simply what we were planning to cook that night for dinner. Beyond being a remarkable grandmother, she was a solid, steady friend who reliably brought comfort, joy, and positivity into every conversation. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known and loved her. As her family tree continues to grow every generation will benefit from the example she has set of being the most incredible grandmother. A private funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at Carlson Funeral Home followed by a burial at St. Marys cemetery in New Britain, CT.
