William Schuster

On December 9th, 2008, William Bill Michael Schuster, 39 of Terryville, went to join his grandfathers Bill and Hal on Heaven's 1st tee. He died after a long and courageous battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer liver. Bill was born in Syosset, Long Island, New York on September 29th, 1969. He was a man who was all about FAMILY and FRIENDS. Bill worked at The Hartford in Southington as a sales agent for the A.A.R.P. account for almost 12 years. Bill played deck hockey for many years at the Plainville Indoor Sports Arena. He loved the competition and when he was too sick to carry on playing, he loved to go there and urge his teammates on. Bill was an ardent Baltimore Orioles fan long suffering and a Dallas Cowboy fan – thanks to his friends he was able to see several games these last several months. He leaves behind the light of his life, his son, Bailey William Schuster and the love of his life, his wife, Dawn Hoyt Schuster. He also leaves his stepson and his fiancé; Christopher Hoyt and Stacie Palomba; his parents, Marcie and Peter Clarke and Charles and Donna Schuster; his grandmother, Marcie Cormier; his great-uncle and great-aunt, Donald and Irene Woods of West Hartford; his aunt and uncle, Diane and David Binder of Medfield, Massachusetts; his aunt, Wendy Schuster of Arizona; his uncles and aunts, Ned and Peg Clarke of Lowman, New York, Kirk and Karen Clarke of Shelburne, Vermont, Tom and Suzanna Clarke of Tempe, Arizona; his mother-in-law and her spouse, Marilyn and Dennis Bernard of Waterbury; his father-in-law; Albert Hoyt of Mount Vernon, Maine; his brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Lya Hoyt, Dennis Bernard, Kenneth Bernard, Craig and Diana Bernard and his many cousins from around the United States. Also of special importance to him were his co-workers at The Hartford, his hockey teammates, his many friends from across the USA, especially his classmates from Berlin High class of 1987 and Donna, his oncology nurse at the Harry Gray Cancer Center. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Bill Cormier, Jean and Hal Clarke and Bill and Lillian Schuster; also his great grandmother Jane Lilling Nana. Funeral services will be held Monday morning 9 AM at Carlson Funeral Home 45 Franklin Square, New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Paul Church, Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening 4 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to the Hospice organization of the donor's choice or to Hartford Hospital's c/o ICU, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102, which gave him such great care in his final hours, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 New York Avenue, New York, NY 10065; or to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102.
