Alice Kochanowski Andrusia

Alice Kochanowski Andrusia, 93, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday March 29, 2014. She was the daughter of Andrew and Catherine Barniak Kochanowski and the widow of her beloved spouse, John Andrusia. A life long New Britain resident and graduate of NBHS, Alice worked for B.C. Porter and Lipman Furniture Stores before working for The City of New Britain Redevelopment Commission as an Administrative Assistant for over 25 years. She and Johnnie loved to host gatherings for both family and friends at their cottages at Lake Congamond and Old Saybrook and were known by all for their warmth and hospitality. Alice was a life long member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, New Britain and until her recent illness worked side by side with her childhood friends to support the church. As a member of the Saint Olga Sisterhood , she served on various committees including church linen, Angel Club, Vareniky, bread and doll making, co-chaired the Tag Sale Table with her dear friend, Sylvia, packed clothes for Bundles for Ukraine Project, and also knitted hundreds of hats for orphans. For her dedication she was given a distinguished service award by the Archbishop in 2012. She will always be remembered for her sweet, generous spirit, love for the church, family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice is survived by her sister, Helen Kochanowski and Anne Belonick and her spouse, Steve Belonick and her brothers John Kochanowski and Joseph Kochanowsky and his spouse Ann Kochanowsky; her grandchildren, Kelly Andrusia of Southington, Catherine Sorrell, Jennifer Barber and Samuel Andrusia of New York, Adam Andrusia and his wife Kim of Plainville; five great grandchildren, Robert and Harmon Barber, Olivia and Grace Sorrell, and Lily Andrusia; her daughter-in-law, Marlene Andrusia and several nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and their spouses. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved sons, Ronald J and Lester Michael Andrusia; her sisters Mary Kerelejza and Elizabeth Fenton and their spouses, Michael and Robert; her brothers Lester Kochanowski and Andrew Kochanowsky and his spouse Stephanie and their child, Lee-Ann. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening 6-8 PM at Carlson Funeral Home 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051 with Panakhyda at 7PM and again on Thursday from 9-10AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Winter Street, New Britain, followed by the funeral service at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Ukrainian Church or to Bundles For Ukraine also at the church.
