Clarence Bachman
August 17, 1912 - July 12, 2005
Clarence Larry Bachman, 92, of Wallingford, formerly of Newington, died Tuesday July 12, 2005 at the Masonic Home and Hospital in Wallingford. Born in New Britain, Larry lived in Newington from 1948 until moving to Wallingford in 2003, and maintained a home in Del Ray Beach, FL for thirty years. He was Vice President-General Manager of the Products Division of New Britain Machine Company for 32 years until founding Comet Manufacturing Company in New Britain in 1960. He retired as President of the company in 1975. Clarence was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Newington; was a member and Past Master of Centenial Lodge, now Unity Lodge, AF & AM. He was a former member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club; the Del Ray Beach Golf Club; and the Advisory Board of the New Britain Salvation Army. He was an avid gardener and was very proud of his vegetable garden. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Peck Bachman; a son, Lawrence E. Bachman of Newington; a brother, Arthur Crandall and his wife Norma of Kensington; a grandson, David Bachman and his wife Lisa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Monday 10 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Avenue, Newington. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
