Jennett Linn Norwick

Jennett Lynn Norwick was born on Halloween in 1953, which began her love affair with all things Halloween. She spent her childhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she graduated high school. Shortly thereafter, she joined the United States Army. Jennett served during the Vietnam War and was a proud Veteran of the United States military. She could be seen wearing the American flag, or red, white, and blue most of the time; except during October, of course, where she wore a different Halloween outfit every day. After her time serving in the military, Jennett married and moved to Minnesota where she had two children, Holly, and Cassie. Being a mother was what made her the happiest. She spent the girls’ childhood homemaking, and later, working during schooltime. She loved being a mother with everything she had, and worked very hard to make lasting memories and traditions for her girls. If she wasn’t spending time with her girls, she could be found spending time with friends at the BINGO hall, pull tabs in hand, or enjoying a drink with fellow Veterans at The American Legion. She loved costume parties, hunting for garage sales, and finding an unbeatable bargain. Her face would light up when she would find a treasure to bring home for someone she loved. She enjoyed loud prints and lots of bling, Dunkin’ Iced Coffee, and, most of all, jewelry. When Jennett was just 40 years old, she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. After an excruciating battle, she became, and remained, a proud cancer survivor. With a new lease on life, and her kids in high school, Jennett did something she had always wanted to do – she went back to college to get her degree. After years of hard work, she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1999 from Saint Cloud State University. A few years later, after her kids finished school, she decided to move back to Fort Wayne, IN as her mother’s health began to decline. Jennett was very close with her mother, Kathleen; even naming her eldest after her. She stayed there until “Nanny” (as her grand babies lovingly called her) passed away. Jennett then began planning her next adventure. With Cassie always by her side, and Holly’s help, she did something she had always wanted to do – she moved across the country, down South to the land of warmer weather. With whatever fit in the car, and an open mind to land wherever life took her, Jennett moved to Tennessee. It was during her time in Tennessee that Jennett became something she had always wanted to be - a Nana! Being a Nana brought her overwhelming joy, and she was absolutely thrilled that she had all granddaughters! Pictures of her children and grandchildren surrounded her at all times, and she never missed a chance to whip out her phone and show anyone who would take a peek, pictures of all of “her girls”. She was so very proud of all of them. In August of 2023, because of her declining health, Jennett embarked on one final adventure – she moved across the country again to live in Connecticut with her eldest daughter and family. While Jennett battled another hard, long war with her body, she made as many memories as she could, leaving us all with unforgettable moments all along the way. On Sunday, December 17, life came full circle for Jennett. She would be the first to tell you that her life actually began when she first held her babies in her arms. So, it was only fitting that her life ended peacefully in the arms of her babies. Jennett’s love for her family, her faith in God, and her adventurous spirit, paved the way for an incredible life journey. Though she faced many struggles along the way, she was a fighter. She fought for every moment she could have with us and wanted to experience everything she could with everyone she loved. Even though she had many more things she wanted to do, and so much more to teach us, Jennett provided us all with memories and traditions that will live on forever. We love you so much Mom/Nana. This world is no longer the same now that you are gone. We will miss you every single day. Jennett Lynn (Radu) Norwick, 70, passed away Sunday December 17, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Kathleen (Henderson) Radu. Surviving are her two daughters, Rev. Dr. Holly Norwick and her partner Jordan Muhs, and Cassie Lynn Norwick; and five grandchildren, Haylie Schwarzenbach and her partner Robert Johnson, Kacie Schwarzenbach, Sapphire Schwarzenbach, Nora Muhs, and Gracie Norwick-Schwarzenbach.
