Mark J. Belanger

Mark J. Belanger, 68, of New Britain, husband of Cindy (Donlan) Belanger, passed away Friday (December 15, 2023) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. A native and longtime New Britain resident, he was son of the late Gilles and Sarah “Sally” (Purcell) Belanger. Mark was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1973 and was proud to be a lineman for IBEW Local 42 based out of East Windsor for the past 22 years. Mark was a former Cub Scout leader and den master and Girl Scout volunteer; he was a former board member of the Ragged Mountain Foundation; was section chairman of the Trails For CT Forest & Parks Association and a member of the Quartette Club. Besides his wife Cindy, he leaves a son, Jesse Belanger and his wife Becky of Plainville; two daughters, Jennifer Davis-Thibeault and her husband Steven of Plainville; and Sarah Berry and her significant other, Tom Drozdzowski of New Britain; three brothers, Gerard Belanger of Bristol; Stephen Belanger of Coventry; and Sean Belanger and his wife Liza of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Michelle Belanger of West Hartford; six grandchildren, Jack, Logan, Nora, Sally, Gabriel and Charlotte; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark loved his family above all else and cherished his role as Dad and Grampy. A lifelong adventurer at heart, Mark was happiest in the woods and mountains where he enjoyed hiking, rock and ice climbing, fishing, and camping. Mark particularly loved spending time in Maine and Alaska. Mark could often be found on one of his prized Harley motorcycles and even fulfilled a lifelong dream of riding with Cindy at the Sturgis motorcycle rally. All who knew and loved Mark will remember him for his humor, his hard work, his ability to fix anything and his free spirit. The family would like to thank the ER, OR, and ICU staff at the Hospital of Central CT-New Britain, in particular Dr. Donahue and Dr. Sharma, for the care they provided to Mark. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on December 30, 2023 at 3:00pm at the Quartette Club, 225 Wooster Street, New Britain. There are no calling hours.
