Rebecca Eshia

Rebecca Morgan Massicotte Eshia, 84, died February 20, 2012 at Bradley Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Becky was daughter of Walter and Verna Stockman Morgan and was born in Stowe, Vermont, November 23, 1927. Although she lived most of her life in Connecticut, Becky always looked forward to spending time in Vermont and considered herself to be a true "Vermonter". Becky was educated in the Newington Schools and, following graduation, began a long career as a first-rate secretary. She was a loyal and valuable employee at the law firm of Webb and Belkin where she made many friends. Her retirement years gave her the time to pursue her passions: painting, going to concerts, museums, and the opera, gardening, reading, going out to eat, and best of all, traveling the world. She was a faithful member of Trinity Methodist Church for forty years where she sang in the choir every Sunday and then joined South Congregational Church where the fellowship and superb music sustained her spirit. Becky is survived by her devoted husband John of Plainville, CT; John's children, Lois Phagan of Port St. Lucie, FL; Gary of Phuket, Thailand; her daughter, Melissa and son-in-law Michael of St. Albans, VT; a niece, Claudia Wittenzellner and her husband Karl of Enfield, CT; a nephew, Scott and his wife Trudy of Feeding Hills, MA; a great-niece and three great-nephews, her scrabble buddy and life-long friend of fifty eight years Marian Burr of New Britain, CT; and many, many good friends in Connecticut and across the country. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 AM at South Church, 90 Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 8:45 to 10:45 at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Becky loved flowers and derived much pleasure from visiting gardens and simply going for a ride in the car to admire the seasonal bounty. Flowers in her memory are welcomed.
