Richard B. Howard, 84, of New Britain, husband of the late Nancy Lewis Howard, passed away Sunday July 27, 2014 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in West Gardiner, Maine, Richard was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict after which he became a resident of New Britain in 1952. He worked at New Britain Machine Company and later for Peter Paul Electronics in New Britain until his retirement in 1990. Richard was a member of the New Britain VFW Post 511 and also the New Britain American Legion Post. Surviving Richard is a son, Maurice Howard and his wife Marilyn of New Britain; 3 daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" LaMay and her husband Thomas of New Britain; Diane Howard of Kensington; and Nancy Becker and her husband William of Southington; a sister, Margaret Firlotte of West Gardiner, ME; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Wednesday AUGUST 6, 2014 from 5 to 7PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Another calling hour will be held Friday AUGUST 8, 2014 10:30 to 11:30AM at the Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, Maine, 04330 followed by burial with military honors in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
